Welfare and support of the membership are the main aims of the Association. this is achieved
in the East Kent Branch through an elected committee of members who are elected annually at the Annual General meeting. Representatives are elected from each of
the East Kent Towns and Rural areas.
Committee At the first meeting following the AGM, the Committee
elects a chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, Assistant Secretary and Treasurer.
A Minute Secretary is appointed by the committee.
Local
Representation Each committee member is responsible for his or her area.
Contact is maintained
with each member in East Kent though local deliverers of the Newsletter
supported by their local committee member. There are over 120 deliverers,
volunteers who deliver the quarterly branch Newsletter to members. Discretion is used when
calling, so that recently retired members, for example, may not be seen as often as those who retired many years ago. Experience shows that nearly all members
requiring help come to the attention of the committee from the deliverers.
For contact details for your local committee member see
Branch Directory The Committee meets quarterly to
conduct branch business. Members of the Committee are also the Trustees of the William Thrift Trust. The William Thrift trust is the Branch Welfare fund.
Application for grants from the Trust are presented and determined by the Trustees.
